Are EMF readings indications of real ghosts?
Paranormal investigators, by and large, take some form of EMF meter with them to
investigate. The EMF meter (K2, Ghost, Mel,etc) starts flashing lights, beeping
or changing numbers and everyone gets excited. Now, then, most of these same
investigators say that spirits draw energy from the surrounding environment to
manifest themselves in some manner (visual, audio, etc). So when your EMF meter
goes UP (increased EMF) and you believe you've had a spirit encounter, how do
you reconcile those two, mutually exclusive, theories? Do you believe they got
their energy from another place before coming to you to manifest? Do you believe
they draw this energy, then expend it in a manner that an EMF meter measures?
How come the meter didn't go DOWN (decreased EMF) before going up (increased
EMF)?
With that said, what about the theories most use when talking about various crystals that "hold energy that spirits can draw from" in the earth? Did you know if you took Quartz and Limestone and irradiate it for more than 10 minutes, and put a MEL and K2 meter on top of them, they don't even light up/change numbers (except for those few seconds immediately after the radiation stops). These things don't hold any measurable energy for more than a few seconds to roughly a minute.
So, as a researcher, investigator and seeker, how do you reconcile metaphysical beliefs with theories and science that don't back up the beliefs we've all perpetuated in the field? At what point do we stop with just parroting the same old, and actually start doing research? How do we plan to test all the standard paranormal "beliefs" to document their validity, so that we can move forward in developing more current, concrete theories so this entire field can move forward? I'd welcome any team or individual that does solid, good research on standard beliefs and either validates them, or shows them to be myths.
This isn't intended to be a witch hunt to any individual or group. In fact, I would think all groups would want to stop being sheep and just following along what everyone else says, and test things. To be clear, the issue about the irradiated gemstones and limestone, we did this at the Univ of Cincinnati not long ago. They do NOT hold energy that is measurable by any standard. If you want to believe they hold "mystical" energy or power, then I'll leave that to you and won't debate any validity either way
